Artist's Description

This picturesque cottage on the lake of St. James's Park in London was first built in 1665, and birds of various kinds have been kept here since 1612, when James I began converting the swampy chase of the Tudor monarchs into a formal garden. It was destroyed in 1771 and rebuilt after 1840 as a bird keeper's lodge. The island is both a sanctuary and a breeding ground for wildfowl, mute swans, pelicans and other birds.

About Helga Novelli

Helga Novelli

Italian photographer, graduated in Digital Media Design from the University of the Arts London. Along with motion graphics I have grown an interest in photography too, in particular infrared. I enjoy taking pictures in locations that leave time and space for reflection giving me the chance to become intimate with the surroundings. Images of often solitary places may evoke melancholic feelings, even romantic sometimes, and the presence of few or no people reveal a reserved character, yet sensitive.
