British historian Lisa Jardine on St. Paul's surviving the Blitz during the Second World War:
"Wreathed in billowing smoke, amidst the chaos and destruction of war, the pale dome stands proud and glorious – indomitable. At the height of that air-raid, Sir Winston Churchill telephoned the Guildhall to insist that all fire-fighting resources be directed at St Paul's. The cathedral must be saved, he said, damage to the fabric would sap the morale of the country."
About Helga Novelli
Italian photographer, graduated in Digital Media Design from the University of the Arts London. Along with motion graphics I have grown an interest in photography too, in particular infrared. I enjoy taking pictures in locations that leave time and space for reflection giving me the chance to become intimate with the surroundings. Images of often solitary places may evoke melancholic feelings, even romantic sometimes, and the presence of few or no people reveal a reserved character, yet sensitive.
