Description
Reifnitz castle was built on a rocky ledge protruding into lake Woerth in 1898 by Hamburg architect Zenkonski for Adolf Heinrich Bercht, later mayor of Klagenfurt. The castle is often called Villa Bercht after its first owner, and is similar in style to the villas along the Alster river in Hamburg, Germany. It is also called “klein Miramar” in German, the small Miramar, for its resemblance to the larger castle on the Adriatic see near Trieste, Italy.
The premises of the palace were later adapted for various cultural events and art exhibitions attracting hundreds of visitors.
