Description
Alfege was the Archbishop of Canterbury who was abducted and brutally murdered by Danish pirates on this site in Greenwich in 1012. However, the present church, designed by Sir Christopher Wren's famous pupil Nicholas Hawksmoor, is only 300 years old. I've been living in the area for many years now, but only recently realised how beautiful that Baroque pinnacle is.
